Every fall, people from all over Korea flock to the west coast to eat jumbo shrimps, called “daeha” in Korean. Ask anyone in Korea where you can find the best jumbo shrimps, and they'll all say, “Namdang-ri of Hongseong!”
Once you've tasted the jumbo shrimps here, you'll never forget its addictive flavor! Situated in the Cheonsuman Bay area, the Port of Namdang is near a rich fishery of crabs, cockles and webfoot octopus. Foodies from around the country visit the area during the jumbo shrimp festival season between early September and mid-October.
Namdang Port Jumbo Shrimp Festival is held between September and October annually. So visit the area during this time of the year to catch jumbo shrimps with your bare hands and also enjoy the mesmerizing sunset.
